Today’s adventures bring us to Walt Disney World's Polynesian Resort and Spa. After looking over a few options, for lunch we chose Kona Cafe* and for dessert Pineapple Lanai. First selection was the Pork Belly Noodle Bowl - Bone broth, rice noodles, soy eggs, mushrooms, bok choy, hot sesame oil.
The broth was a bit bland. Tasted like weak beef broth. Rice noodles were good. Consistency was spot on. Soy eggs, whoa! I have never eaten them and boy are they salty. I know they are cooked in soy sauce, sugar and water. The soy sauce overtook the sugar. Salty, very salty. Different types of mushrooms and small amounts of bok choy. There was also cilantro and shredded carrots. Pork belly bits were amazing. Chewy. Fatty. Just all around “I want more”!! Overall: This soup I would definitely come back for. Even just for the pork belly bits.
And now dessert: Te Fiti Cone - Lime soft serve served in a green cone topped with an orchid. Lime soft serve? Take my money! It was good. Green cone was not flavored. Can you eat orchids? I don’t even know. It was not eaten. Overall: this is a must when visiting The Poly!
The Polynesian is a wonderful resort. The decor is fresh, colorful, fragrant. When you walk in you are greeted by friendly cast members. Cheery. Helpful. It’s just a pleasant atmosphere all around. The Polynesian is within walking distance to the park and The Grand Floridian. *Kona Cafe is located on the second floor above the Boutiki resort shop, above the lobby.
